Paver Contractor in Tsawwassen

Wind- and salt-tolerant builds for ocean-side lots.

Neighborhoods

Local detail

Tsawwassen is oceanside building, and oceanside building needs its own spec sheet. Salt aerosol off the water corrodes anything ferrous, so ordinary steel edge restraints are out. Steady wind erodes loose joint sand out of open joints over a season or two, so plain jointing fill is out. And the UV exposure out here is intense, which is hard on lower-grade pavers. None of that is a reason not to build a beautiful yard on the bluff. It's just a reason to build it correctly.

So within about a kilometre of the water we switch the whole material spec. Stainless or otherwise corrosion-resistant edge restraints, polymeric jointing sand that hardens and locks instead of washing out, and coastal-rated paver brands chosen to hold their colour and surface under salt and sun. On pool decks, which are common here, we add slip-rated treads and keep the surface light so it stays walkable barefoot in full summer sun. Retaining walls and stepped patios come up a lot on the sloped English Bluff and Tsawwassen Heights lots, and every wall gets its drainage detail built in behind it.

If your build is right on the water, expect that different spec sheet and expect us to explain why each choice is on it. We'd rather you understand the trade-offs than take our word for it. Common Tsawwassen work: pool decks, patios, and retaining walls.

Common questions

Why do oceanside builds need different materials?
Three things the water does to a build. Salt aerosol corrodes anything ferrous, so ordinary steel edge restraints are out. Steady wind erodes loose joint sand out of open joints over a season or two, so plain jointing fill is out. And the UV exposure out here is intense, which is hard on lower-grade pavers. Within about a kilometre of the water we switch to stainless or corrosion-resistant edge restraints, polymeric jointing sand that locks in place, and coastal-rated paver lines chosen to hold up against all three.
Do you build pool decks in Tsawwassen?
Yes, and they're common here given the setting. Oceanside pool decks get slip-rated treads so they grip underfoot when wet, a light surface that stays walkable barefoot in full summer sun, and salt-tolerant materials that shrug off the wind and spray. It's the same coastal spec logic as the rest of a Tsawwassen build, just applied to a surface where slip resistance and heat really matter because people are on it barefoot.
Will wind wash out the joints over time?
Not with polymeric jointing sand instead of regular fill. Plain sand sits loose in the joints and the steady wind out here erodes it over a season or two, which is how joints open up and pavers start to shift. Polymeric sand hardens and locks the joints in place so wind and rain can't wash them out, which is why it's standard on every oceanside build we do rather than an upgrade.
How soon can you quote a Tsawwassen project?
Usually within about a week of the site walk, depending on scope. Coastal builds take a little more thought at the quoting stage because the material spec changes near the water, so we'd rather spend the time getting the spec sheet right than hand you a number we have to revise once we've looked properly at how exposed your lot is.
