South Vancouver is mostly heritage homes on smaller, older lots, and that shapes almost everything we do here. Most of the work is rebuild rather than new construction. We're pulling out tired concrete or old red-brick walkways and replacing them with pavers, often matched to a specific architectural era so the new work looks like it always belonged to the house. Kerrisdale, Shaughnessy, and South Granville see the most of this.
Working on compact heritage lots is its own skill. Access is tighter, there's less room to stage material and run equipment, and the detail has to be right because on a small footprint every joint and edge is seen up close. We own a mini-excavator that fits through a 36-inch gate for exactly this reason, and where even that won't fit, we hand-dig. Tight courtyards that larger crews turn down are a normal part of our week here.
Vancouver's permit and bylaw rules are also stricter than most of our coverage area, Kerrisdale especially, and we're used to working through them rather than being slowed down by them. We flag anything relevant at the site walk so there are no surprises mid-project.
